Topping the non-drama buzz charts just three weeks after release
Wavve’s original entertainment show ‘The Community 2: Invisible Hand’ claimed the number one spot on Good Data Corporation’s FUNdex integrated TV-OTT non-drama buzzworthiness rankings for the third week of September. This marks a massive 15-spot jump from 16th place the previous week, setting its own record high just three weeks into its run. The show was also highlighted as the most talked-about program in Wavve’s October content lineup, released on September 30.
The program is a social experiment survival show where participants, each holding different resources, must trade with one another with their survival and prize money on the line. While typical competition shows focus on winning matches or showcasing individual skills, ‘The Community 2′ shifts the players’ options based on who holds what resources and who they decide to trade with. Trading here is a survival tool, but it also keeps shaking up team power dynamics and trust throughout the game.

The second half: Where team interests and individual survival collide
As the show heads into its second half, both the conflicts of interest between teams over limited resources and the internal cracks within them are deepening simultaneously. Participants are forced to make decisions that benefit the community, but those very choices might put their own survival or chances at the prize money at risk. The true brilliance of the format lies in how it frames cooperation and betrayal not as simple personality clashes, but as natural byproducts of resource allocation.
The surge in the rankings is heavily backed by online reactions. ‘The Community 2′ took the top spot in both the Social Media category and the VON (Voice of Netizen) category, which analyzes information and reactions across blogs, cafes, and online communities. The very act of viewers dissecting and debating the participants’ choices and trade outcomes has essentially fueled the show’s massive buzz.
Expanding the experimental boundaries of Korean survival shows
The success of ‘The Community 2′ proves that variety shows don’t need to rely solely on provocative elimination scenes to win over the public; turning the core principles of how society operates into game rules can be just as compelling. By placing resource scarcity, trading, team interests, and individual survival all in one space, the show allows viewers to observe not just the participants’ behaviors, but the underlying structures that drive them.
Wavve’s October lineup features ‘The Community 2’ alongside the teen romance ‘Summer Vacation’, the documentary ‘Predators: Cyber Wreckers, A Record of War’, and ‘Rookie Director Kim Yeon-kyoung 2’, which premieres on October 11. Among these, ‘The Community 2’ has entered a critical phase where inter-team conflicts and internal divisions are intensifying as it approaches the finale. The key thing to watch now is whether this peak buzzworthiness will translate into sustained viewership right up to the very end.
