Experiencing webtoons, games, and AI all in one place
The ‘2026 Changwon Content Convention’, an interactive event where visitors can experience webtoons, games, artificial intelligence, and virtual reality under one roof, will take place on September 12 from 10 AM to 6 PM at Exhibition Hall 3 of the Changwon Exhibition Convention Center in South Gyeongsang Province. This hands-on festival aims to connect local content companies, creators, educational institutions, and citizens and covers a range of production fields across the Korean content industry.
The venue is structured around four main pillars: webtoons, games, AI, and VR. Visitors won’t just be looking at finished products; they will get a behind-the-scenes look at how content is actually created and explore the careers that make it happen. Local businesses and creators will also be present to share their work and interact directly with the public. A standout feature of this event is its dedication to bringing together the people who create and learn about content outside the greater Seoul metropolitan area, gathering them all in a single space.
Live voting for the AI short-form contest at 1 PM
Over on the main stage, the ‘AI Short-Form Contest’ for high school and college students will take the spotlight. This program showcases short video content produced using artificial intelligence technologies. At 1 PM, there will be live voting for the submitted entries, followed immediately by an awards ceremony at 1:40 PM. The setup naturally encourages visitors to watch the videos and actively participate in the judging process.
From 2 PM to 3 PM, the main stage will host insightful talks focused on webtoons and AI content. Webtoon creator Kwak Dong-joo and other industry professionals will take the mic to break down their creative processes and discuss the shifting landscape of the content industry. Sharing the stage with AI highlights how, in Korea’s content ecosystem, new digital production tools are becoming just as central to the conversation as traditional drawing and storytelling.

Drawing sessions and career counseling in the Webtoon Zone
The Webtoon Zone will be open from 10 AM to 3 PM. Here, visitors can try their hand at webtoon drawing and see exactly how a single panel comes to life. For readers who usually consume webtoons online, it’s a rare chance to witness the journey of art and narrative evolving into finished digital content. For aspiring creators, it serves as a great starting point to turn their passion into actual hands-on work.
The SGA Academy booth will offer one-on-one coaching and career counseling tailored to the webtoon and gaming fields. Rather than just giving a generic overview of the industry, they provide personalized advice on the preparation process and career paths based on what each participant actually wants to know. Since the webtoon industry involves a complex mix of roles beyond just the main artist, including storyboarding and production management, pairing hands-on experience with expert counseling can genuinely help aspiring professionals map out their futures.
PUBG finals and the local content ecosystem
The featured title for the e-sports tournament is ‘PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds’ (PUBG). Participants battled through online qualifiers on September 6, and the live finals will run from 3 PM to 6 PM on the day of the convention. Bridging online qualifiers with an offline final shows how gaming has grown from a personal pastime into an event where both players and spectators share in the competition.
Rather than treating webtoons, games, AI, and VR as isolated sectors, the Changwon Content Convention presents them as interconnected parts of a broader content industry. This layout reflects today’s reality, where webtoon intellectual properties routinely expand into games and video, and digital tools are deeply integrated into the creative process. By bringing together local companies, creators, students, and fans, the event shows that Korea’s content industry, often seen as concentrated in the capital region, also has real roots in local education and grassroots creation.
A one-day event won’t erase the regional gaps in the industry overnight. But there is real value in creating a space where aspiring creators can draw and seek career advice from experts, where students can showcase their AI projects, and where local artists can directly engage with their audience. It works less like a festival for consuming media and more like a hub for finding and connecting the next generation of local creators.
