Centellian24 Updates Its Iconic Madecassoside Cream With an ‘Aging Focus’ Formula

Dongkook Pharmaceutical’s dermocosmetic brand Centellian24 has released an updated version of its flagship product, Madeca Cream, under the name “Madeca Cream Aging Focus,” extending one of Korea’s most recognizable centella-asiatica-based skincare products into an anti-aging-specific formulation aimed at an older demographic than the brand’s original barrier-repair-focused customer base.

The original Madeca Cream built its reputation on madecassoside, a centella asiatica-derived compound long used in Korean dermocosmetics for its soothing and skin-barrier-repair properties, and became one of the more commercially successful “cica” (centella-focused) products in a Korean skincare market that has embraced centella-based formulations broadly since the ingredient’s mainstream popularization roughly a decade ago.

The Aging Focus extension reflects a common strategy among established Korean dermocosmetic brands: rather than launching an entirely new product line to address anti-aging demand, brands increasingly extend already-trusted hero products into adjacent formulations, leveraging existing consumer trust in the base ingredient and brand rather than building anti-aging credibility from scratch with an unfamiliar new product name.

Dongkook Pharmaceutical’s continued investment in the Centellian24 brand reflects the broader strength of Korea’s dermocosmetic (pharmacy-adjacent skincare) category, which has grown steadily as Korean consumers increasingly favor skincare brands with pharmaceutical-company backing and clinical-sounding formulation claims over purely cosmetic-industry branding, particularly for products targeting sensitive or aging skin concerns.

The new formulation arrives amid a broader wave of ingredient-focused product launches across Korea’s skincare industry in 2026, with brands across price tiers racing to update flagship products with more targeted, demographic-specific formulations rather than relying on original hero-product formulas indefinitely.
