Korean skincare brands are leaning hard into ingredient-focused product innovation this year, with collagen brand EverCollagen launching a new skincare-specific line, “EverCollagen Lab,” whose debut product illustrates just how technical the category’s competitive claims have become: a “Real Collagen Booster Shot Ampoule” that separates freeze-dried collagen capsules from a high-potency ampoule base, requiring the user to mix the two components immediately before application.
The split-formula design reflects a broader 2026 skincare trend that industry coverage has described as an ongoing “ingredient competition” (성분 경쟁) among Korean brands, where active ingredient potency and freshness have become primary selling points, sometimes at the expense of formulation convenience. Freeze-dried, mix-before-use formats are typically marketed on the premise that certain active ingredients degrade once mixed into a stable liquid formula, making a just-before-use mixing step a meaningful potency advantage rather than a marketing gimmick, at least according to brands promoting the format.
EverCollagen’s move into dedicated skincare, beyond its established ingestible collagen supplement business, mirrors a pattern common among Korean beauty and wellness companies: brands that build consumer trust in one category — in this case, oral collagen supplements — increasingly extend that trust into adjacent topical skincare lines, betting that ingredient credibility transfers across product formats even when the underlying efficacy mechanisms differ significantly between ingested and topically applied collagen.
The launch adds to an already crowded field of Korean ampoule and booster-serum products competing on similarly technical, ingredient-forward claims, part of a broader market dynamic where Korean skincare brands increasingly differentiate through formulation science and delivery-format innovation rather than through packaging or branding alone.
Whether split-cap and mix-before-use formats become a lasting category standard or a shorter-lived trend within Korea’s fast-moving skincare market remains to be seen, but the format’s emergence reflects how technically sophisticated ingredient marketing has become in the country’s beauty sector.
