Musinsa launched “Musinsa Used” in August 2025, a built-in secondhand marketplace inside its main shopping app that lets users buy and sell used clothing from more than 20,000 domestic and international fashion brands regardless of whether those brands are officially sold on Musinsa’s primary retail platform — and the service has grown rapidly since, with gross merchandise value up 234% month-over-month as of last October, registered sellers up 2.5 times, and buyers up 158%.
The platform’s core pitch simplifies what has traditionally been a friction-heavy process: sellers on most secondhand platforms must photograph items, write listings, and handle washing and shipping themselves, while Musinsa Used streamlines much of that workflow within an app millions of Korean shoppers already use daily for new-clothing purchases — lowering the barrier to entry for casual sellers who might otherwise never bother listing used items at all.
Musinsa has paired the resale platform with broader sustainability programming, including a “2026 Earth Week” event run jointly with sister platform 29CM, featuring plogging (jogging while picking up litter) and clothing-exchange events centered in Seoul’s Seongsu-dong district — the same neighborhood where Musinsa has built much of its flagship retail and brand-cluster presence, extending the company’s sustainability push into the physical spaces most closely associated with its brand.
The resale push arrives as Musinsa faces a competing entrant in LF, whose own secondhand fashion service has intensified competition in Korea’s resale category — a sign that major fashion retailers increasingly view secondhand commerce not as a niche adjacent business but as a core growth category worth direct platform investment.
For Musinsa, which has spent recent years engaged in aggressive growth pushes across summer sales events and new store openings, the resale platform represents a parallel strategy: capturing additional transaction volume from customers’ existing wardrobes rather than solely competing for spending on newly manufactured inventory.
