What Is Ginseng-Derived PDRN? A Guide to Farmstay’s Middle East and Europe Push

Let’s Start by Taking a Calm Look at the Name ‘PDRN’

You’ve probably seen the ingredient PDRN popping up in K-beauty lately. Myeongin Cosmetics’ Farmstay brand is riding that wave with its ‘Ginseng V-PDRN’ line. This series combines ginseng-derived PDRN exosomes and a vitamin complex to target pores and aging concerns. At the 2026 Beauty Istanbul exhibition in Turkey last May, it caught the attention of Middle Eastern and European buyers. The event is over, but how this ingredient and approach are reshaping K-beauty export strategies is still worth understanding.

First, a key reminder: PDRN stands for polydeoxyribonucleotide. In cosmetics, it’s often marketed for skin conditioning, hydration, and firmness. But don’t equate applying a product to a medical procedure. Cosmetics can’t replace drugs or treatments, and you should read the claims with that distinction in mind.

Why Emphasize That It’s Ginseng-Derived?

PDRN has traditionally been associated with salmon-derived sources. So the ‘ginseng-derived’ label offers a new option for consumers who prefer plant-based ingredients or feel uneasy about animal-derived ones. Ginseng is also a symbol of Korea, making it a smart way for K-beauty to blend traditional ingredients with biotech.

But ‘ginseng-derived’ doesn’t automatically mean gentler for every skin type. The origin of an ingredient and the potential for irritation in the final product are separate things. That’s because fragrance, alcohol, preservatives, acids, and other active ingredients might be added. If your skin barrier is weak or you’re sensitive to fragrance, don’t pick a product based solely on the PDRN keyword—check the full ingredient list and how to use it.

Same goes for exosomes. They’re widely known for cell-to-cell communication, but the quality, manufacturing method, and stability of exosome ingredients in cosmetics can vary by product. Just because a product says ‘exosome’ doesn’t guarantee high-performance effects. Instead, take a calm look at the brand’s test data and labeling.

There’s a Reason Farmstay Chose Istanbul

At Beauty Istanbul, Myeongin Cosmetics showcased Farmstay, Another Face, and Laferm alongside its OEM/ODM brand Cosprends in a unified booth. Turkey is a market that connects Europe, the Middle East, and Asia—making it a prime spot for cosmetics companies to meet buyers from multiple regions in one place. It’s not just about selling branded products; it’s also a good venue for discussing manufacturing contracts with local distributors and entrepreneurs looking to create their own brands.

One common mistake is lumping the Middle East and Europe together as a single market. In the Middle East, hot and dry climates mean higher demand for moisture and staying power, and fragrance preferences vary by country. Europe, on the other hand, has strict regulations on documentation, ingredient labeling, and sustainability. That’s why even the same product may need different packaging, labeling, and distribution strategies.

Myeongin Cosmetics says Farmstay has been exported to over 80 countries in 18 years. That number shows overseas sales experience, but it doesn’t guarantee that a specific new product line will settle in each market. Whether the interest at the exhibition translates into actual contracts and repeat purchases can only be confirmed through future distribution results. Real success will be measured not by buzz at a show, but by local consumer repurchases, distributor reorders, and regulatory compliance.

When Choosing New Products, Look at the Formulation Before Pore Promises

Pore care claims grab attention, but expecting a cosmetic to permanently shrink pore size is unrealistic. Sebum production, dead skin cells, dehydration, sun exposure, and loss of elasticity all affect how visible pores appear. So if pores are a concern, don’t pin all your hopes on one product. Instead, consider your cleansing habits, sun protection, moisturizing, and—if needed—a dermatologist consultation. That’s a more realistic approach.

If you want to try the Ginseng V-PDRN line, first check whether the product is a toner, serum, or cream, and follow the order of use. Generally, you apply thinner textures first, then thicker ones, but the brand’s official instructions should be your guide. When introducing new active ingredient products, avoid starting several at once—it’ll be hard to pinpoint the cause of any irritation. I’d recommend introducing just one product at a time.

Patch testing is also worth remembering. Apply a small amount behind your ear or on your inner arm and watch for reactions. But since that skin isn’t exactly like your face, if redness, itching, or stinging persists, stop using it. If you’re pregnant, nursing, or under treatment for a skin condition, it’s safest to review the ingredient list with a healthcare professional.

K-Beauty’s Competition Rests on Manufacturing Trust, Not Buzzwords

It’s also notable that Myeongin Cosmetics highlighted its OEM and ODM capabilities alongside its brands at the exhibition. OEM means manufacturing products based on another company’s design, while ODM covers planning and development too. For overseas buyers, consistent quality, on-time delivery, and regulatory documentation for each country matter just as much as a product’s concept.

The company aims to complete a new 12,920-square-meter (approx. 3,906 pyeong) facility integrating R&D, manufacturing, and logistics by July 2026. Coincidentally, that’s this month—but whether actual completion and operation have happened isn’t separately confirmed, so don’t jump to conclusions. Instead, keep it as a point to watch. Expanded production capacity could support larger orders, but what you as a consumer actually need to check are the product’s labeling, expiration date, official sales channels, and how it suits your skin.

Ginseng-derived PDRN is an interesting starting point—a blend of traditional ingredients and biotech. But when figuring out if a product is right for your skin, look beyond the trending ingredient name. Check the full ingredient list, formulation, and potential for irritation first. That standard will be your most practical beauty routine.
